Like A G6

Gulfstream_Aerospace_G650_AN2224812Gulfstream G650, is called the “fastest plane ever built in civilian aviation” and Creflo Dollar wanted one!

Who wouldn’t want it? But not at the expense of hardworking church goer, oh no! When I saw the news this morning about Creflo Dollar asking money to fund “Project G650”, I started singing in my head “you give Christianity a bad name” to the tune of of Bon Jovi’s song, of course. Simply  unbelievable.

I have been a Christian since age 15 and have been a member of different churches. Sure, the church would ask for money to set aside for a building fund, to sponsor missionaries, to help support pay its personnel and its mortgage, to support different ministries but I have never heard of a church asking its members to set aside $300 to buy a G6. Jesus’ followers and bible believing Christians support charities and ministries to spread the gospel and help less fortunate people the world over, but NOT TO SUPPORT A LIFESTYLE, in the name of ministry.proof_twitterjoke_04-02-2014

When preachers preach “spend money to make money-“it is counterfeit! Jesus never preached and promised prosperity. In fact, every potential converts are warned of suffering and persecution. Jesus promised eternal life to those who will believe and no bribe is necessary to accept Him as your Lord and Savior.

1 Thessalonians 5:21 adds, "Prove all things; hold fast that which is good."
“Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.”-1 Thessalonians 5:21

In most cases, people who convert to Christianity are often persecuted and don’t get rich and they die. It is offensive to even present Jesus and the gospel as a gofundme movement.

Ministry although entails money, doesn’t have to be flamboyant. Jesus is for the poor and the needy and the broken, not for those who want to get rich quickly. It is not a ponzi scheme. As hated as Christianity is, it’s also the most lucrative business for those who want fast buck, let’s be wary and not fall for the trap.

jimshortsprosperityGiving is a part of Christian living. Giving helps the ministry. There are great preachers who went about doing good and preached Jesus and salvation but never used people’s loyalty to extract money to support their wants. For those who did and do, you will take account of it on judgment day.

In closing, I would like to encourage everyone to pray diligently for wisdom and discernment. Jesus Himself said in Matthew 7:15, “Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.”

“Believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.” -1 John 4:1
