It is very specific. God’s children. You know who they are, you know who you are.
The question of why bad things happen to good people should not be a mystery at all. After all, God makes the rain fall on both the good and the bad. So, why not?
When bad things happen to God’s children it is painful for sure. But the peace that God gives takes over grief, bitterness and resentment. Call it bitter sweet if you must, because it is.
In the last weeks, we have read and heard of Christians getting slaughtered everywhere. It would seem like they died senselessly. Children, women, young and old. No one was spared. It is sad, but guess what? There is hope and victory over death.
“Why did they have to die?”
The righteous perish,
and no one takes it to heart;
the devout are taken away,
and no one understands
that the righteous are taken away
to be spared from evil.
They are with our Heavenly Father now. I have no idea what their surviving family members and friends go through, I just know Jesus loves them so much for them to endure hardship. God’s ways are higher than ours. It is hard to accept sometimes why these things happen. But although they are gone now, they are much alive in Jesus.
Absent from the body, present with the Lord.
Let us pray for their surviving family for comfort and peace. Peace that passeth all understanding, and the love that only God can give.
